The high school student council knocked it out of the park with their Veterans Day ceremony. A fantastic group of local heroes visited the high school yesterday afternoon and shared about their military experience with the high school and elementary students in Mapleton.
This morning, the students in the Anthon center had the opportunity to hear from a few veterans from the American Legion Auxiliary - McNiff Unit 389 Anthon and ask them questions about their experiences serving their country. Thank you for your service, gentlemen.
The fall sports photos by Rhonda Rauch Photography were a huge success! The junior after-prom committee would like to offer photo options for purchase again. Congratulations to Will Forbes, Emily Kovarna and Jasmine Schaffer on their successful audition and selection on Saturday to the Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association High School Honor Band. The honor band rehearsals and concert will be held in Eppley Auditorium on the campus of Morningside University on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
Spanish 3-4 are visiting the Latino Museum in Omaha. We made “papel picado” and visited the beautiful “ofrenda” for Day of the Dead. We also sampled some Mexican bread and authentic food at El Dorado restaurant.

The Juniors in Mrs. Sass' Business Computer Applications course experienced some sticker shock today. They worked on an assignment in Microsoft Excel where they were required to calculate the cost of two colleges or trade schools of their choice and calculate student loan payments based on thier figures, then determine the total cost of that education including interest and developed a chart to compare the two. Students who do not plan on pursuing a post-secondary education did a similar project but researched the cost of a two vehicles, including taxes and registration.
The MVAOCOU Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter kicked off their annual Krispy Kreme & Koated Kernels sale today. Orders will be taken until November 17th and will be delivered December 10th.

The Quiz Bowl team kicked off their season in Ankeny this weekend. They placed 2nd in their division. It was a great way to start our season.
The Spanish students have learning about Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) and made traditional Spanish cookies to celebrate the holiday.
Yesterday the MVAOCOU National Honor Society hosted a blood drive in the high school media center. Students, staff, and a few community members showed up in an effort to help save lives!
