Senior Spotlight - Cadence Koenigs

Cadence Koenigs is the daughter of Josh and Abby Koenigs of Mapleton. You can find her driving around her two younger siblings, Caitlee and Creighton, in her navy blue Mini Cooper. Cadence is very involved throughout the school and community. She stays busy with basketball, volleyball, golf, speech, BPA, FFA, Gold Club, Art Club, 4-H County and State Council, and youth group. She also loves to help Mr. Gill broadcast on the Ram Cast whenever she can.

Cadence’s favorite teachers are Miss Petersen and Mr. Gill. “I love Miss Petersen because we are so close and she is always there for me, and Mr. Gill because he is like family to me and has taught me a lot about myself,” Cadence says. Her favorite high school memory is winning powderpuff football this year, along with participating in all of the other fun activities during Homecoming week.

“I am greater than the highs and lows” is Cadence’s favorite quote. She even has it tattooed on her wrist. She says the quote represents who she is and the meaning behind her Type 1 Diabetes. Cadence’s advice to younger high school students is, “Don’t be afraid to stick to your true self, and never change who you are for the benefit of others.” After high school, Cadence plans on attending South Dakota State University to major in Journalism and be on the speech team. Her dream job is to become a sports broadcaster. Good luck in all your future endeavors, Cadence!
