Mapleton Elementary students on Read Across America Day

It was a busy Read Across America Day throughout the district on March 2nd, which also happens to be Dr. Seuss' birthday! The Mapleton and Anthon elementary students had been challenged to read 400 books aloud this winter and their goal was met last month. They celebrated their achievements with a nod to Read Across America Day. The students sang songs, listened to stories, played games, and made bookmarks. In addition, students and staff were encouraged to participate in 'Read a T-shirt Day’ by wearing shirts with words on them. The Anthon pre-school students also participated in some Dr. Seuss activities by enjoying some green eggs and ham. In the high school, students in Mrs. Paulsen’s class celebrated by reading some childhood classics like The Lorax and Wacky Wednesday. It was a fun and educational day had by all!
