Girls' Basketball

Coaches: Corey Dose and Sherrie Yockey

When coach Dose was asked what his team's strong points will be this season, he responded by saying, “Good offense and being able to get easy buckets in transition. These will be the main points that we will focus on every game.” Last year, the girl’s basketball team had a good run of 15-8. It was a decent season for the team overall. “They went into every game focused and locked in ready to get the win,” Coach Dose mentioned. Some points of improvement that Dose would like to focus on are working on rebounds and communicating better on defense. “These are strong points that every team needs in order to have a great successful season,” Dose added. When we asked how this year’s team compares to last year's team, he responded, “Since we have most of the team back, we can expect a very successful season full of greatness and improvements all season long.”

When asked how success is defined on this team, Dose responded, “Winning the Western Valley Conference and going to the state tournament, but not just that, by also improving overall as a team and just trying our hardest every game. It’s not about the wins but the effort that we put into every game that's equally as important.” We asked if there were any rival teams that the girl's basketball team wanted to beat, and he said  Kingsley-Pierson and Westwood. “We are going to need to work hard all season so we can beat them!’’

Finally, we asked Coach Dose for any advice for the team before the season started, and he said, “If the coach has to constantly worry about the effort that the players are putting in, it's going to be a long season.”
